A bit of Blake at the CLC

Worked with a great group at Doncaster North CLC today exploring digital storytelling. It was all Barbara’s work really – using Macs and iMovie to create some amazing video versions of William Blake’s Sick Rose.

Teacher’s from Hall Cross, Rossington and Hatfield selected images, added narration, captions and sound effects to create fantastically powerful readings. These video poems (vidoems?) precisely caught the image-rich quality of Blake’s eerie and surreal poetry. I was, as usual, impressed by the creatively of English teachers. The work soon sparked debate about how this form of narrative might inspire learners. For example, it could allow readers to explore a text privately (and visually) before presenting it publicly. There is also no doubt that, by the end of the video production, each learner will have memorised the text!

But I don’t have a Mac I hear you cry. Well, you can use Photo Story 3 on a PC (link on the right of this page) or you could contact the CLC to arrange the loan of up to 15 MacBooks for a set period.
